Dustin Prins, DPM, MBA, FACFAS, FACHE, CWSP

Podiatric Surgeon

Dr. Dustin Prins is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon dedicated to serving patients and the community through compassionate, evidence-based care. Board certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery, and a Certified Wound Specialist Physician (CWSP), he provides comprehensive care for a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including trauma, sports injuries, arthritis, deformities, diabetic foot complications, wound care, and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Prins believes that restoring mobility and improving quality of life is one of the greatest privileges in medicine. He approaches each patient with the understanding that every individual has unique goals, challenges, and circumstances, and he works to develop personalized treatment plans that reflect those needs. Whether utilizing conservative therapies or surgical intervention, his focus is on helping patients return to the activities and lifestyles that are most meaningful to them.

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Prins continues to serve in leadership and faculty roles at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Podiatric Medicine. He is passionate about educating future physicians and surgeons and helping develop the next generation of healthcare leaders. His academic interests include foot and ankle surgery, clinical education, inter-professional collaboration, healthcare leadership, healthcare operations, population health, and innovative approaches to improving patient care.

Dr. Prins holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). These experiences have strengthened his belief that excellent healthcare is built upon teamwork, service, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement. He values collaboration and works closely with orthopedic surgeons, primary care physicians, endocrinologists, vascular specialists, rehabilitation professionals, wound care teams, and other healthcare providers to ensure patients receive coordinated, comprehensive care.

A veteran of the United States Navy, Dr. Prins carries forward the principles of service, integrity, and dedication that have shaped both his professional and personal life. He views healthcare as a calling and is grateful for the opportunity to serve patients, families, students, and the broader community.

Through clinical practice, education, and leadership, Dr. Prins remains committed to advancing the health and well-being of those he serves, with the goal of helping every patient achieve improved function, mobility, and quality of life.
