DIEGO MUGICA, MPAS, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Diego Mugica has dedicated his career to serving the community that shaped him. He graduated from McAllen Memorial High School before earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas–Pan American. He later completed his Master of Physician Assistant Studies at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV).

Diego began his medical career in emergency medicine, where he gained valuable experience treating a wide variety of acute illnesses and injuries. After one year in the emergency department, he joined Cornerstone Orthopedics in 2017, where he has since focused on providing comprehensive orthopedic care. His experience includes evaluating and treating fractures, sports injuries, arthritis, and a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, with an emphasis on helping patients return to the activities they enjoy.

Diego is passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based care while taking the time to educate patients about their diagnoses and treatment options. He believes that building trust and strong relationships with patients is essential to achieving the best possible outcomes.

Outside of medicine, Diego enjoys spending time with his family. He has been with his wife since 2010, and together they are raising two beautiful daughters. As a lifelong resident of the Rio Grande Valley, he is proud to continue caring for the people and families in the community he has always called home.
