DR. RAUL MARQUEZ

Dr. Raul Marquez is one of the leading Orthopedic Surgeons within the national and international medical communities. For over 20 years he has served in the Rio Grande Valley. His compassion and respect for his patients’ health and well-being act as a catalyst for innovation in both the operating room and in his office. His main clinical interests are in sports medicine and in the total reconstruction of the joints.

Dr. Marquez has done more for his community and his patients than just serve as a physician. He is an entrepreneur, involved in the region’s economic development, building medical and health facilities designed to accommodate and facilitate his patient’s lifestyles. He is best known for his involvement in new technology, developing and designing new devices that benefit patients.

In 1999, Dr. Marquez designed and patented his own mobile bearing knee implant known as RAM Mobile Bearing Knee. Currently, he serves as an international instructor (USA, Germany, and Latin America) for the use of computer and robotic technology and is working with reputable orthopedic engineers improving and modifying navigation techniques. The new technological devices improve clinical outcomes and provide a higher level of accuracy and safety.

Dr. Marquez was born and raised in Mexico City. He received his M.D. in medicine at the University of La Salle and completed his internship at the American British Cowdray Hospital, Mexico City, in 1978. He finished his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery/Spinal Cord Monitoring at the University of Ottawa in Canada and completed his residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Toronto, Canada in 1986.

DR. ROSARIO PARRA

Dr. Rosario Parra is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and fellowship trained in Pediatrics and Congenital Cardiovascular anesthesia. She started practicing in our community in 1997 after finishing her fellowship in Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, England. Since then, Dr. Parra transitioned into Orthopedic Anesthesia and in 2008 joined Marquez Robotic Orthopedic Institute. Dr. Parra performs the pre-operative evaluation of all our surgical candidates prior to surgery, evaluating patients with cardiac, pulmonary and metabolic issues patients may present, decreasing the possibilities for anesthesia/surgical complications.

Dr. Parra is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology and the Texas Society of Anesthesiology. She has a passion for tennis and is an active supporter of our local USTA tournaments, promoting the growth of the sport

DR. DANIEL A. ROMANELLI

Daniel Romanelli’s, M.D, education, and experience have allowed him to become well-versed in his field and practice. He brings this competence and expertise in performing state of the art advanced Orthopaedic sports medicine procedures. Dr. Romanelli began his education at UCLA, where he earned a bachelor’s degree before attending New York Medical College to gain his medical degree. Dr. Romanelli completed his fellowship training at Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Romanelli is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.

Ever since becoming board-certified, Dr. Romanelli has vastly enhanced his honorable mentions. Over the last twenty years, Dr. Romanelli has:

  • Been in private practice for 20 years

  • Director of Sports Medicine Cornerstone Regional Hospital, Edinburg, Texas

  • Served as one of the Traveling Team Physicians for the U.S National Soccer team from 2002-2013

  • Served as the New Mexico delegate for American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM) (2014-2020)

  • Served as an orthopedic consultant for NMSU Athletics and Las Cruces area high schools (2004-2020)

  • Serves as a Volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics for the University of New Mexico School of Medicine’s orthopedic clinical rotations

  • Program Director of the Mountain View Orthopedic Residency in Las Cruces, NM from 2016-2020

  • Became an appointed Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery of Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine at New Mexico State University
